This is the first Christmas in 29 years that we haven’t been with at least one of our kids. Many have asked if I am sad. I’m not. My heart is full of joy and pride that my kids are where God wants them, doing what He called them to do. We are celebrating later with the assistance of technology, opening our gifts to each other.
The filter for life is our heart. If we align with God’s plan and enjoy what He provides, we can embrace each season.
Several dear friends are experiencing their first Christmas with a loved one in heaven. Some are experiencing a third, fourth or twentieth without a dear loved one. I have watched as grief joins with joy to celebrate the One Who gives us all hope – Jesus.
As we celebrate the gift He is, let’s also embrace the season we’re in, trusting Him to express His gifts – “Everything that goes into a life of pleasing God has been miraculously given to us by getting to know, personally and intimately, the One who invited us to God. The best invitation we ever received! ” (2 Peter 1:3 MSG)
To you and yours, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
