This word can be used in several ways, like live bait for fishing and to live life. I’m going to talk about the latter.

I was out for a walk a couple days ago and thought about the “highlight reel” of lives in the Bible. We read them quickly and jump from highlight to highlight forgetting that for many years they just lived. They had conversations, spent time in silence, worked hard (mostly nomadic or agrarian societies), ate meals, cleaned up animal messes and baby messes and moved from place to place. That stuff generally didn’t make the highlight or low-light reels, but that was what made up most of their lives.

We can live for highlights and be disappointed or we can live life to the full and enjoy the journey between them.

The iris photo is from my garden this morning. I could have missed it if I’d rushed on to find a highlight in my day. What did you stop to see today?
